Hoosier Tire Extends Agreement

Hoosier Tire Extends Agreement to Provide Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series Tires For Three More Years

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 27, 2007) – Continuing a relationship that began when the Grand-Am Cup Series was formed in 2001, officials from Grand-Am and Hoosier Tire Corp. today announced that Hoosier has extended its agreement as exclusive tire supplier to the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series (which was formerly known as Grand-Am Cup) for another three years.

In addition to Hoosier being the only tire supplier that the Grand-Am Cup Series or KONI Challenge has ever known, the world’s largest manufacturer of racing tires also supplied the predecessor to Grand-Am Cup, the Motorola Cup series, beginning in 1999. Hoosier is also the exclusive tire manufacturer for the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve through the end of the 2007 season.

“The impact Hoosier Tire has had on making not only the KONI Challenge Series but also the Rolex Series—and in particular the Daytona Prototype class—the most competitive form of road racing in North America cannot be overstated,” said Grand-Am President Roger Edmondson. “We are grateful to Hoosier for serving our Rolex Series teams wonderfully over the past two years and continuing through the end of this season. At the same time, Hoosier remains a natural choice to continue supplying tires to the KONI Challenge Series, which kicked off its 2007 season in spectacular fashion here at Daytona International Speedway yesterday thanks in no small part to Hoosier Tire.”

A total of 92 race cars competed in the Fresh From Florida 200 on Friday, the opening race of a 12-race schedule for the 2007 KONI Challenge Series. Hoosier will continue to supply KONI Challenge teams in both the Grand Sport and Street Tuner classes through 2010

“We are proud to continue our relationship with the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series and to offer on-site technical and service support to this exciting and growing group,” said Hoosier Racing Tire Vice President of Marketing Dennis Sherman. “We’re excited about the growth the series has seen, and we look forward to many years of continued success.”

Hoosier is the world’s largest race tire manufacturer with tires for every type of racing venue, including sports cars, drag racing, asphalt and dirt tires for oval racing and karting.
