Porsche Club Great Britain have announced an extra race date for their popular and competitive Porsche Club Championship and Porsche Open race series, a July visit to the Silverstone Historic Grand Prix circuit adding to the list of top line circuits for 2007 which now includes Spa-Francorchamps, Brands Hatch GP, Donington Park GP as well as the full current Silverstone Grand Prix layout.
The extra date sees the two series combining to form part of the Silverstone Classic race meeting over the weekend of the 28th and 29th of July, an event which sees Porsche as the favoured marque for 2007. With race dates already issued, the event will be non-championship for Porsche Club runners, and provide both sets of drivers with a rare opportunity to drive this particular layout of the Silverstone circuit.
"For relatively modern cars to have the opportunity to race on the Silverstone Historic GP layout is really quite unique," explains series co-ordinator Steve Kevlin. "We'll have a race on each day of the weekend and use the combined class structure we have used before when the two series have run together. We were invited to join the meeting and we happy to do so as it follows our theme of competing at bigger meetings in 2007"
With entries now rising for both race series, highlights of the 2007 schedule include a return to the Spa circuit in Belgium, always a favourite with drivers, and a dramatic end to the season as racers take on three Grand Prix circuits in September. The month starts with a meeting on the full Donington Park GP circuit, followed by Silverstone's GP circuit supporting their 24-Hour race, and a season finale at Brands Hatch for the visit of the World Touring Car Championship to the famous Kent circuit.
