Dickinson set for BHRC debut

Mark Dickinson will end a 12-year break from rallying when he returns on the Robin Hood Forest Stages in a Mk2 Escort RS2000 in the Dunlop/Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship. The Yorkshireman's passion for rallying was fired when his father prepared road rally cars for Ron Beecroft in the 1970s and he competed on regional stage events until 1995 when business and family commitments took priority.Initially, his fresh car was being built for a return to modern events, but after visiting some BHRC events in 2006, he switched focus and went the historic route with the car, which will run to Group 4 trim but with a Pinto engine. The car will be similar in specification to that of class D3 pacesetter Mark Clifford."The Robin Hood will be my first event since 1995. The car is just about ready to go," says Dickinson, who will contest several BHRC rounds, including the Pirelli and the Trackrod, as well as some of the HRCR Northern events. "I'd love to do the Roger Albert Clark Rally as well." Dickinson is also considering a first ever trip into the Welsh forests during the year.
