Saelens signs for Team IRWIN SAS Supercu

TEAM IRWIN SAS has announced that Belgian ace David Saelens has signed to race the IRWIN car in the 2007 Porsche Mobil1 Supercup season.IRWIN Industrial Tools and SAS International have teamed up with championship-winning teams Red Line Racing and Team Parker Racing to step up to the F1-support series and the signing of leading Supercup racer Saelens is a major coup for the team.David had a fantastic start to the 2006 Supercup, but bad luck towards the end of the season cost him any chance of the title. However, he is confident that 2007 is his year to shine. "My aspiration for 2007 is to become Supercup Champion for TEAM IRWIN SAS!"It's very important to me that the team's sponsors believe I have what it takes to go all the way and I am confident that we will see huge successes this year," said Saelens, who battled with Richard Westbrook for the 2006 Supercup title. "TEAM IRWIN SAS is definitely a winning formula."Saelens began his racing career at the age of six in karting tracks and, after a single-seater career, started racing in the Porsche Supercup in 2004. Over the last two years he has been a regular race winner and podium finisher.The sponsorship is the largest  pan-European motorsport investment for IRWIN to date, complimenting large success in US and Australia. As a company that prides itself on its high performing products, we only wanted the best when it came to finding a driver to lead the team."The opening weekend of the 2007 Porsche Mobil1 Supercup will be at the Bahrain Grand Prix at Sakhir on Saturday April 14. A further ten races will follow, with the final race of the season at the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps on September 16.
