S.S. Minnow Joins the Queen Mary in the Long Beach Harbor

Gilligan’s Island was filmed at CBSRadford Studios in Studio City, CA. During the off-season, the lagoon wasdrained and used as a parking lot. On Friday, April 13, as part of the Long BeachGrand Prix weekend, CARA Charities will give you a chance to be a part ofGilligan’s Island, but on a real body of water.

Join them at 6:30 PM at theRainbow Harbor in Long Beach and board Hornblower’s SS Endless Dreams forCARA’s fifth annual Raceway Rendezvous.

Titled “Castaways of G-Forces Island,” it will feature an on-board casino night with celebrity guests, prizes, auctions, entertainment and food. The décor will be rustic island and you can getphotos with the “Skipper” and “Gilligan” upon boarding. On the TV show, theymade over 77 items from bamboo including a go-cart and a film projector. Onthe cruise there will be a bamboo bowling alley and bamboo limbo contest.

“Last year, we raised over $38, 000,” said Vicki Faivre, president of CARA. “Thisyear the proceeds will go to the Painted Turtle Hole in the Wall Camp, the LongBeach Grand Prix Foundation, American Le Mans Series Grid Kids, and BuckleUp Baby. We will have live and silent auctions, casino gambling for prizes, a livesteel drum band, and plenty of food and drink.

Our guests will tour Long Beach harbor and see views most have neverexperienced before. It is a great event for the party goers as they are directparticipants in the festivities and make it the unique event it is. You get to seedrivers, team owners, series officials and other racers take a festive break fromthe demands of a racing weekend.”
