FORMULA S2000 on track for race debut

International Formula Master declared the Formula S2000 on schedule for a thrilling race debut in Valencia on 20 May, after further tests were carried out today at the Italian track of Vallelunga.

Focusing on set-up and tyre development during the three-day test, with Development Driver Giorgio Pantano, the single-seater race car completed several long-distance runs without any problems.

“The car is incredibly quick and easy to set up,” said Pantano whose previous drives include GP2 and Formula One. “It responds very well and we did a lot of kilometres over the past three days.”

Overseen by N.Technology’s Series Director, Mauro Sipsz, the test benefited from warm weather throughout the three days ensuring consistency in the car’s development.

“We are very upbeat,” said Sipsz. “Pantano’s feedback on the set-up was perfect and we are confident that the car is good. There were no problems with the car; the engine and tyres performed without a hitch so we were able to complete every job we had planned.

“We also tested our new sequential six-gear gearbox today concentrating on the clutch and gearshift-paddles and I am happy to say that it all works fantastically.”

Further Formula S2000 testing will take place later on this month in Vallelunga and Monza.

Following changes in the FIA World Touring Car Championship calendar this week, Anderstorp’s Scandinavian Raceway in Sweden will now host the fifth round of International Formula Master, replacing Istanbul Park in Turkey on 29 July 2007.

“Sweden is a very important market for us  to establish International Formula Master as a global series,” said Mauro Sipsz. “We are very pleased that it has been added to this year’s calendar and are looking forward to the chance of bringing the Series to Sweden’s motorsport scene.”
