Jordan tops major Clio test

Andrew Jordan set the fastest time during a shortened test day for the 2007 Elf Renault Clio Cup at Brands Hatch today (Monday 12 March). It proved to be a short day as a suspension failure arose on at least one of the cars testing. Although Andrew's Team Eurotech entry suffered no problems, the championship organisers took the decision to bring testing to a halt while the problem was investigated further. So, after half an hour of running at the start of the day, Andrew's best lap in 50.3s was the fastest lap recorded. Title favourites Ed Pead, Jonathan Fildes and Martin Byford were all right behind Andrew when the session was halted."It was disappointing that the test day had to be curtailed," said Andrew. "But we've got a great set-up for Brands and we're ready to go."Renault has told teams to stop testing the new Clio until more work is done on the relevant component, but it is hoped that the test session planned for Oulton Park on Tuesday 20 March can go ahead.Andrew Jordan is supported by John Guest, Bill Gwynne Rally School and Pirtek.
