Briton Clucas Joins Ultimate Motorsport

BRITON CLUCAS JOINS ULTIMATE MOTORSPORT(WEDNESDAY MARCH 14) BRITISH DRIVER BEN CLUCAS WILL RACE FOR ULTIMATE MOTORSPORT IN THE 2007 BRITISH FORMULA THREE INTERNATIONAL SERIES, THE NORTHAMPTONSHIRE TEAM CONFIRMED TODAY. Reigning Australian Formula Three champion Clucas returns home to England to race the Mygale-Mercedes alongside Argentine team-mate Esteban Guerrieri in the new team's debut season. Team owner Barry Walsh said: "We are delighted to confirm Ben will join us alongside Esteban for 2007. We believe the two of them will make a formidable driver pairing for our first year in the sport. "Ben comes to the team having just completely dominated the Australian Formula Three series so he has already proven that he is more than capable of driving a car competitively at this level. "He is already very much part of the team. He has already tested the car twice, at Magny-Cours and Silverstone, and he was present for our launch, which took place in the BRDC club at Silverstone at the end of February. "We will now aim to give both Ben and Esteban as much mileage in the cars as possible as we build towards what will be an exciting debut for Ultimate Motorsport at Oulton Park on Easter weekend." Clucas has been a strong competitor on his way up the motorsport ladder, becoming Junior Champion in British Formula Ford, top rookie in Italian Formula Renault and a winner in national class British F3 before his success in Australia. He was one of the McLaren-Autosport Young driver of the Year finalists in 2003 and his talent was acknowledged by the Toyota Grand Prix team when they signed him up to their F1 Driver Academy at the start of 2004. He joins Ultimate Motorsport as the team becomes the first to challenge the dominance of Dallara in British F3 for many years using a package combining the championship-winning Mercedes engine and a French-built Mygale chassis.
