Ultimate Progress with Clucas Onboard

(MARCH 16, 2007) ULTIMATE MOTORSPORT WELCOMED NEW BRITISH SIGNING BEN CLUCAS FOR HIS FIRST TEST AS AN OFFICIAL TEAM DRIVER ON THURSDAY AS PREPARATIONS FOR THE TEAM'S BRITISH F3 DEBUT CONTINUED AT FULL PACE. The new team's distinctive orange and black car was on track at Silverstone for a three-hour test with Clucas at the wheel as the much-changed British Formula Three International series was given its official media launch at the team's home circuit. Ultimate Motorsport Team Principal Simon Armstrong said: "We had a productive day and were able to continue our focus on the development of the Mygale car now that our driver line-up is confirmed."We are delighted to have confirmed Ben officially and he worked with the whole team very professionally as we continued to drive through the usual processes involved with developing a new car and team."We made some good progress and completed a full test programme. The car responded to the changes we made and the engineers have acquired further data on which to build our understanding of the car."Ultimate Motorsport ran just one car at Silverstone because Esteban Guerrieri, who was signed before the team's February launch, was absent due to family issues but there was still plenty of mileage put in by the end of the short three-hour session. The team is unique in the field as it aims to take on the current crop of Dallara cars using a potent combination of the championship-winning Mercedes engine matched to a French-built Mygale chassis, never yet raced in British Formula Three. Plans are in place to continue development at maximum pace through the coming weeks, including a return to running two cars at the next test at Croft as the team looks forward to making a competitive debut at Oulton Park on Easter weekend.
