Donington Park hosts first open paddock
Fans of the Corona Extra Superbike World Championship 2007 (WSBK) will have the unique opportunity to meet their international racing heroes at Donington Park in the run up to next weekend’s European round at the Leicestershire circuit.Organisers have arranged a free-of-charge open paddock event, where the public will receive a taster of the excitement to come during the course of the race weekend.There will be autograph sessions taking place throughout Thursday afternoon, with a 15-minute slot for each team. Much attention is expected to focus on Sheffield-born, 2004 champion James Toseland and other fan favourites, including Troy Corser, Max Biaggi and current WSBK champion, Troy Bayliss. Commenting on the open paddock event, Simon Gillett, CEO of Donington Park said, “I am very excited that WSBK is returning to Donington Park and would like to thank all the riders who are taking the time to meet their fans – the event promises to be a great success.”As well as being able to collect autographs, it is also a chance to look behind-the-scenes at the event preparations for the first WSBK meeting at Donington Park since 2001 and sample the buzzing atmosphere of the famous WSBK paddock. The WSBK open paddock will be held on Thursday 29 March, 2.30pm to 5.30pm at Donington Park. The now-famous WSBK paddock show will be the heart of the event throughout the weekend, with examples of the machines used through World Superbike's history on display.
