Onslow-Cole in MSA Elite Final
Tom Onslow-Cole has been confirmed as one of 20 drivers selected for a place in the final selection process of the new MSA British Race Elite programme. The recently confirmed Team RAC BTCC driver and reigning Elf Renault Clio Cup Champion joins 19 other hopefuls who will undergo an interview at the MSA next month.Nineteen year-old Tom, whose domination of the Clio Cup earnt him BRDC Rising Star Status, was one of 86 drivers considered and performance directors David Brabham and Don McPherson were faced with the task of whittling that figure down to 20.“It wasn't an easy job to whittle the number down to 20, as the quality of applicants was very high," said Brabham. Tom will now join representatives from Formula Ford, Formula Renault, Formula BMW, Formula Palmer Audi, F3 and sportscars for the final judging which takes place on 5 April at MSA headquarters in Colnbrook.An independent panel of judges comprising single-seater team owner Peter Briggs, sportscar star Oliver Gavin, GP2 and A1GP engineer Chris Gorne, journalist Matt James, and touring car driver-turned-commentator David Leslie will then make the final selection of six drivers to become the first members of the Race Elite programme.The other 19 candidates are: Henry Arundel, Sam Bird, Tom Bradshaw, David Brown, Riki Christodoulou, Jack Clarke, Jonathan Cocker, Andrew Jordan, Jonathan Kennard, Callum McLeod, Michael Meadows, Jeremy Metcalfe, Lee Mumford, Adrian Quaife Hobbs, Dean Smith, James Sutton, Duncan Tappy, Colin Turkington and Jordan Williams
