Hammond plans Heritage GT campaign

Alec Hammond is planning to contest a full season in the Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge with his familiar Chevrolet Camaro, even though he will be forced to miss the opening two races while away at the cricket World Cup in the Caribbean."The car will be at most of the rounds," says Hammond, who has entrusted the Camaro to Andy Jenkinson for the opening two races in April. "The car will do more of the races than I will," admitted Hammond, who will join the series at round three in early June. John Young is likely to share the car with Jenkinson at the start of the season.Hammond is hopeful of some good results in the Heritage season. "We've done a lot of work on the Camaro over the winter, so it should be good fun," he says. Alec will then share the car with Jenkinson over the balance of the season.As well as racing his familiar Chevrolet Camaro, Hammond will also campaign a Lotus 23B this year. The ex-David Ham Lotus has spent most of its racing life in France and will now contest a range of events, including Sports Racing Masters races. "I can put the Lotus in the boot of the Camaro," joked Hammond.
