With every passing day, we draw a little closer to the start of the 2007 season. The World Series Formula Renault 3.5 championship gets under way in Monza on April 14-15. Meanwhile, the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and Mégane Trophy drivers will have to wait a week longer, as their season kicks off at Zolder on April 21-22.
Istanbul meeting cancelled Initially planned for June 23-24, this meeting has been cancelled. The World Series by Renault Organizing Committee will announce the date and location of the replacement meeting within the next few days.
Opening races in Formula Renault 2.0The Italian Championship of the Formula Renault 2.0 came under starter's orders last weekend at Vallelunga. Henkie Waldschmit (Prema Power Team) won the first two races, ahead of Mihai Marineschu (District Racing). These two drivers, who were right in the thick of things at the Eurocup collective testing, will surely be in the running for the title. This coming weekend sees the start of the French Championship at Nogaro.
Top quality line-up for the Eurocup Mégane TrophyThe second session of Eurocup collective testing takes place this week at Barcelona (April 4-5). The fourth Megane of the Verschuur Team will be driven by the much admired Belgian duo, Vincent Vosse and Grégory Franchi. Two further candidates for top honours!
Nuñez clocks up the milesAfter four days of collective testing at Barcelona and the Nürburgring, Alejandro Nuñez (Red Devil Comtec) is the driver who has covered the greatest distance: 1,326.15 kilometres, to be precise. Hot on his heels, and with nothing between them, come Charlie Kimball (Victory Engineering), Miguel Molina (Pons Racing), Daniil Move and Salvador Duran (Interwetten.com). At the other end of the scale, of the drivers who took part in all the sessions, Guillaume Moreau (KTR) brings up the rear with 784.24km on the clock.
