FOR MOTORSPORT COMPANIES FROM £100 MILLION DTI FUND

The DTI has announced a further £100 million for UK business to research and develop new technologies, and EEMS, the Energy Efficient Motorsport programme, is organising a motorsport-specific workshop at the DTI launch event on 20 April.The Collaborative R&D Competition, part of the DTI-led Technology Programme, will provide funding to the most innovative, marketable projects which will boost the UK economy. The Spring 2007 competition opens on 24 April 2007 and contains several areas of direct relevance to the motorsport industry: v    £40 million for advanced manufacturing projects - including design engineering technology to boost competitiveness and sustainabilityv    £15 million for energy technologies - both renewable low-carbon options and ensuring the continued production of hydrocarbon reserves v    £15 million for lightweight materialsThe Technology Strategy Board is holding a ‘dissemination event’ on 20 April 2007 at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham. This event will include detailed information on the collaborative R&D competition and the key technology areas.In order to help motorsport companies receive this R&D funding, EEMS will be running a specific motorsport networking workshop in the afternoon following the main programme.
