After a Successful Run at St. Pete With the Flying Lizard Team

It was a good weekend for Porsche endurance driver Darren Law of Phoenix, Arizona as he piloted the #44 Flying Lizard Porsche GT3 RSR in this last weekend's American Le Mans Series St. Petersburg street race. Law was teamed with Lonnie Pechnik of Mt. View California, and the duo finished fourth on the day in the GT2 class field, narrowly missing the last podium spot to the #21 PTG Panoz machine of Joey Hand and Bill Auberlen.  The St. Pete event marked the second round of the twelve race 2007 American Le Mans Series schedule.Qualifying and RaceThe number 44 Flying Lizard Porsche qualified at a time of 1:13.438 on the bumpy, wall bordered circuit that snaked through the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida earning them the sixth starting position in the GT2 class field.   Law set a strong pace at the start of the two hour forty five minute event, and began to work his way through the field of GT2 class cars. Law eventually placed himself in third, hard on the heels of the team's #45 Porsche piloted by Porsche factory driver Joerg Bergmeister. Almost on the PodiumThe two silver and red Flying Lizard machines traveled in tandem until Law, who had driven for two solid hours - the maximum time allowed for a single driver, pitted for fuel, tires and a driver change.  Pechnik took over the #44 machine and worked hard with increasingly difficult traffic, crossing the finish line 4th to earn the #44 Porsche GT3 RSR its best finish of the year, and just missing a podium finish by five seconds to Auberlen's Panoz.QuoteDarren Law  - Driver #44 Flying Lizard Porsche GT3 RSR"It wasn't a bad result. Up NextLaw will be very busy over the next few weeks as he again joins the Lizards at the upcoming Long Beach ALMS event the weekend of April 13-14.  He will have a new teammate for the Long Beach race, as fellow American and Porsche factory driver Patrick Long will be joining him. Both drivers are looking forward to this event. Law and Long are from California, and both drove this track last year in the Daytona Prototype class during the Grand Am weekend. Law then travels to Texas for the Houston ALMS event the next weekend, and finally, he finishes of the month back with the 58 Brumos Red Bull Porsche Riley in the Grand Am Rolex series at Virginia International Raceway.
