The first GP2 race of the 2007 season at the Bahrain International Circuit was a disappointment for the FMS team, with Antonia Pizzonia finishing in 16th place, and a promising looking Jason Tahinci forced to retire with a mechanical failure.
Paolo Coloni, Team Principal: “It hasn’t been a good weekend so far for us. It started in qualifying when Antonio had traffic on his best lap, and had to start from 12th, when he could easily have been at the top, and it continued for us in the first race. Antonio started well but something happened with another driver at the first corner and he lost positions. We decided to pit early to try to make up some places but then we had a problem with the tyres wearing away too quickly, so we brought him in for another stop to see if he could improve his times. That put him back and he finished in 16th. For Jason, today’s result was a real shame. He was in 13th place and doing very well but we had a problem with a gear and he had to retire. Hopefully we can do something in tomorrow’s race.”
