Formula Master update
International Formula Master (IFM) concluded its final test today at Vallelunga with a month to spare before the Series’ Formula S2000 race car makes its competitive debut in Spain. The two-day test marks the end of the 2-litre single-seater’s development and the brand new Series is continuing to gather pace with the announcement of a further nine new drivers today. “I’m really excited at the prospect of handing the Formula S2000 to the teams next week,” said Series Director Mauro Sipsz. “It is a very important milestone for N.Technology and I am extremely proud of my team. This is our first single-seater project and everything has gone to plan. It really shows what we are capable of as a company and I look forward to seeing the 33 confirmed entries on the grid at the season opener in Valencia.” The Formula S2000 has already made a big impression amongst drivers, with new signing Luca Persiani itching for his first run behind the wheel. “The car is beautiful,” said the Italian, who will partner Scuderia Famà’s Massimo Torre. “But it’s fast and reliable as well and with racing on some of the best circuits worldwide, together with WTCC, what more could you want?” Also joining the IFM drivers already announced is an additional two entries for ADM Motorsport, Dutchman Nick de Brujin and Michele Caliendo from Italy. 20-year-old Nick is already aiming for the top spot. “My goal is to gain as many podiums as possible,” said de Brujin who along with team-mate Caliendo completes his team’s four driver line-up alongside Frankie Provenzano and Dominik Schraml. “The Series looks extremely promising with good TV coverage, a professional management and cars that are running on a high technical level. I am looking forward to the start of the season.” Ahead of IFM’s first race in Spain on 20 May, the Series organisers will carry out a shakedown in Monza with all 14 teams. The two-day test will take place on 26/27 April and will be the first time teams and drivers alike get their hands on the eagerly awaited Formula S2000. Another new signing, Rodolfo Avila who will drive for Cram Competition with Jerome D'Ambrosio from Belgium, is keenly anticipating the chance to test out his ability in the car. The 2003 Asian Formula Renault Champion is already focused on the season ahead and cannot wait to start racing. “The cars looks very aerodynamic and professional and Cram Competition has a massive international reputation,” said the 20-year-old. “I visited the workshop and met Marcello Rosei and his people. They have a plan and they want results as I want. We just need to go to the track now and I know their huge experience will help me a lot during the season.”
