Donington Park looks back on F3 glory
BRSCC Racing @ Rockingham is all set for a flying start with the season opener taking place on 28/29th April. It will be a weekend full of high-speed action including the thrills and drama of American style oval racing combined with a fine mix of UK circuit racing.
The British Racing & Sports Car Club, the new promoters for the BRSCC Racing @ Rockingham events (formerly Thunder Sunday) have been working tirelessly over the winter to ensure the spectators are guaranteed an exciting day out. Iain Brown, BRSCC Chief Executive said, “The BRSCC is thrilled to be taking on this opportunity of both running and promoting these events. We truly believe that motorsport spectators in the UK deserve to see great racing at a reasonable price and we aim to deliver that at Rockingham this year!”
The Pickup Truck Championship, celebrating its 10th anniversary, will take centre stage. Intense battles between the 2006 champion, Nic Grindrod and Rockingham favourites Paul Poulter and Kelly Jayne-Wells will have the crowds on the edge of their seats to see oval racing at its very best. With four trucks aligned into Turn One doing speeds of up to 150mph, grids of over 26 trucks, rookies and veterans, this is not a combat to be missed!
With the SCSA series under new management, these V8 American monsters should prove to be as exciting as ever and with two sprint races of 35 laps, there will be a plethora of on track action.
Support races from the BRSCC’s portfolio of championships feature the Alfashop Alfa Romeos, the Mighty & Super Mighty Mini Championships, the LMA Euro Saloon Car Championship, the Fiat Racing Challenge & the VSR Super Silhouette Championship.
To compliment the 11 races there will be a world record attempt by theMR2 Owners Club - an estimated 400 one-marque cars, lapping the famous oval will be quite a sight!
