The second round of the British GT championship at Donington.
Race 1 – Beechdean Motorsport scored a debut British GT win at Donington Park.
Andrew Howard qualified a superb 2nd in only his fifth British GT start and drove well in the opening laps to hold onto 2nd place. A delayed pit stop put the car back into 2nd place when Aaron Scott took over. A superb recovery drive saw him claw back the 23 second deficit to catch and pass the leaders and take the teams first win in the category. Aaron also set the fastest lap of the race, a new lap record!
Aaron said, “It’s a great result for the team. I’d like to thank them for a really good car and congratulate them on this result. My team mate, Andrew is improving very well and he has set some very good lap times this weekend. I am looking forward to the 2nd race.”
Andrew said, “Absolutely thrilled, absolutely fantastic. I’ve got to keep up with Aaron now; My God what was he on?”
Sunday 22nd April
Race 2 – Beechdean Motorsport scored a sensational second victory at Donington in the second race on Sunday to leapfrog drivers Aaron Scott and Andrew Howard into the Championship lead in the GTC category.
Scot started from the back of the grid after a problem in qualifying. However, by lap 3 he had already moved into the lead as he pulled out a 36 second advantage taking fastest lap in the process. Andrew Howard belied his lack of GT experience to lead the team home, confidently taking the win by 18 seconds.Aaron said, “This is a fantastic result for the Beechdean team, they have done a stunning job this weekend. The car was perfect and I am delighted to have helped secure them their first of what I am sure will be many wins.
