FRIDAY 4 MAY 2007
Take part in the Opening Ceremony of Britain’s only round of the FIA GT Championship, featuring The Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy
Britain’s only round of the FIA GT Championship, featuring The Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy, heads to Silverstone on 4-6 May. While the opportunity to see Nigel Mansell’s return to racing with the Scuderia Ecosse Ferrari team will be a resounding highlight on the track, the opportunity to take part in the event’s official Opening Ceremony – the London to Silverstone Supercar Tour – on Friday 4 May, will prove to be a popular pre-event experience for anyone taking part.
Following the huge success of last year’s inaugural Supercar Tour, event promoters - Silverstone Circuits, The Royal Automobile Club and SRO - are delighted to confirm that a cavalcade of highly sought after supercars will once again accompany the prestigious Tourist Trophy on a pre-determined route from The Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall to the famous Northamptonshire circuit.
Following a photocall in London, an exclusive field of up to 50 supercars will head out of London behind a special Police motorcycle escort, before driving an 80 mile non-motorway route to Silverstone. The Tour concludes with a lap of honour around the world famous Grand Prix circuit to signal the official opening of another breathtaking weekend of top motorsport action.
In addition, one supercar from the entry will be selected by the organisers to lead the assembly out of London, and transfer the historic Royal Automobile Tourist Trophy to Silverstone, where it will be awarded on Sunday 6 May to the winners of round two of the 2007 FIA GT Championship.
