Take part in the Opening Ceremony of Britain’s only round of the FIA GT Championship, featuring The Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy

Britain’s only round of the FIA GT Championship, featuring The Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy, heads to Silverstone on 4-6 May. While the opportunity to see Nigel Mansell’s return to racing  with  the  Scuderia  Ecosse  Ferrari  team  will  be  a  resounding  highlight  on  the  track,  the opportunity to take part in the event’s official Opening Ceremony – the London to Silverstone Supercar Tour – on Friday 4 May, will prove to be a popular pre-event experience for anyone taking part.   

Following   the   huge   success   of   last   year’s   inaugural   Supercar   Tour,   event   promoters   - Silverstone  Circuits,  The  Royal  Automobile  Club  and  SRO  -  are  delighted  to  confirm  that  a cavalcade  of  highly  sought  after  supercars  will  once again accompany the prestigious Tourist Trophy on a pre-determined route from The Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall to the famous Northamptonshire circuit.

Following a photocall in London, an exclusive field of up to 50 supercars will head out of London behind  a  special  Police  motorcycle  escort,  before  driving  an  80  mile  non-motorway  route  to Silverstone. The Tour concludes with a lap of honour around the world famous Grand Prix circuit to signal the official opening of another breathtaking weekend of top motorsport action.

In addition, one supercar from the entry will be selected by the organisers to lead the assembly out of London, and transfer the historic Royal Automobile Tourist Trophy to Silverstone, where it will   be   awarded   on   Sunday   6   May   to   the   winners   of   round   two   of   the   2007   FIA   GT Championship.

The 2006 London to Silverstone Supercar Tour provided a spectacular opening to the three day meeting, and this year’s event has been enhanced to include the following:

- Entry to the Tour - only 50 21st Century Supercars will be accepted - Three-day Silverstone Event Passes for two persons, plus souvenir event programme - Breakfast for two at The Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall on the Friday morning - Special Police motorcycle escort from Pall Mall to outer London - Refreshments on route at two meeting points - Two or three laps of the full Grand Prix Circuit on arrival at Silverstone - Route maps, passes and administration - Private hospitality suite overlooking the circuit at Brooklands with two-course lunch and afternoon tea for two persons on Friday The  Tour  is  open  to  the  latest  vehicles,  as  well  as  other  special  supercars  at  the  organiser’s discretion. 35 cars are already entered for the 2007 tour, including models from Aston Martin, Bentley,  Bugatti  (Veyron),  Dodge,  Ferrari,  Koenigsegg  (CCX),  Lotus,  Maserati,  Porsche  and Spyker (C8). With  this  year’s  entry  caped  at  50,  a  limited  number  of  places  are  still  available  for  the  2007 London to Silverstone Supercar Tour. The all-inclusive entry price for the Supercar Tour is £345 per entry, including driver and one passenger. A special evening dinner, priced at £75 per person, is also scheduled for participants at The Royal Automobile Club on the Thursday evening.

Weekend  Tickets  for  Silverstone’s  round  of  the  FIA  GT Championship,  featuring some of the most  spectacular  supercars  in  the  world,  are  available  in  advance,  for  £20.  Saturday  and Sunday only tickets will also be available on the day for £15 and £25 respectively.  

Access for children aged 15 years and under, accompanied by an adult, will be free of charge, while  parking,  covered  grandstand  seating,  paddock  access  and  centre  transfer  will  also  be included with a general admission ticket.
