South coast rally driver Steve Hendy is gearing up for a busy fortnight in his Ford Focus WRC as he takes in the Monteberg Rallysprint in Belgium before a trip to the Isle of Man for the RBS International Manx Rally.

This weekend (May 6) Steve and co-driver Aled Davies head to Belgium for this legendary event – a one day rallysprint which will enable the pair to test the Focus WRC on Hankook tyres for the first time.

The following weekend they will be back in action – this time in the second round of the Asphalt Rally Championship – a two day event on the Isle of Man.

“We have had a relatively quiet couple of months and are really looking forward to the next few weeks,’’ said Steve. “We have joined forces with Hankook to test some new tyres this weekend and the conditions should be perfect for the new car.’’

In Monteberg the pair will be able to recee the stages before competition gets underway and thousands of spectators are expected to turn out for this annual event.

“We enjoy heading to Europe for rallying and this event fits perfectly into the calendar and will be an excellent warm up for the Manx,’’ said Steve.
