Bridgestone e-reporter finalists

First e-reporter journalist to attend Spanish Grand Prix (11-13 May) Bridgestone, exclusive supplier to the GP2 Series, has announced the seven finalists of this year’s Bridgestone e-reporter competition for aspiring young journalists.

Now in its fourth year the contest continues to provide students from across Europe, still in full time education, with the opportunity to make their debut as a reporter, for Bridgestone, covering  the  GP2  Series  from  within  the  paddock.  This  years  competition  has  seen  the highest level of entries to-date, and with previous finalists going on to work within the media, the  competition  is  being  recognised  as  a  proving  ground  for  the  next  generation  of motorsport journalists. Each of the finalists for this season will be invited to attend a European Grand Prix weekend to experience Formula One and the GP2 Series first hand, getting the chance to report on GP2 and its up and coming star drivers.

The 2007 Bridgestone e-reporter finalists, chosen by a panel of international media representatives, include: Spanish GP - 13 May: Tom Hornsby (UK) French GP -1 July: Michael William Scott (UK) British GP - 8 July: Michael Lea-O’Mahoney (UK) German GP - 22 July: Jake Schembri (Malta) Hungarian GP - 5 August: Andras Kittka (Hungary) Italian GP - 9 September: Peter Hodges (UK) Belgian GP -16 September: Laura Postma (Netherlands) Prior to being selected as a 2007 finalist, entrants were required to write interview questions for a GP2 feature, along with a 300 word article themed around Bridgestone and Formula One. 

Judged  on  their  journalistic  style  and  writing  ability,  the  seven  finalists  now  have  a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to start a media career from their experiences with e-reporter. Throughout the 2007 GP2 season, driver interviews from the Bridgestone e-reporters will be featured on the GP2 website, gp2series.com, while race reports from the finalists will feature on the Bridgestone website, bridgestone.eu/e-reporter. The overall winner of Bridgestone e-reporter, who demonstrates the most journalistic flair while reporting from the GP2 paddock, will be awarded a state-of-the-art laptop; the chance to  interview  a  GP2  graduate  who  has  made  the  step  up  to  drive  in  Formula  One;  further invaluable    work    experience;    and    a    trip    to    attend    a    Bridgestone    safety    event (www.safetyatheart.eu).

The  overall  winner  of  Bridgestone  e-reporter  2007  will  be  announced  at  the  GP2  end  of season finale in Valencia.
