Intense testing was the theme for International Formula Master (IFM) today as the two-day test in Valencia drew to a close, marking the teams’ last opportunity to prepare before the all-important first race, this weekend.
Once again Scuderia Fama’s Luca Persiani was the quickest in this morning’s session with a 1:27.696, improving his time from yesterday by almost two-tenths of a second. The Circuito Ricardo Tormo resounded from the sound of 31 Formula S2000 running on-track, with some drivers completing as many as 50 laps.
This afternoon’s session was as close with Maximilian Goetz from ISR claiming fastest time with a 1:27.998.
There were marked improvements throughout the field, reflecting the hard work occurring up and down the paddock. Spain’s Oliver Campos Hull showed great form by climbing to fourth compared to yesterday’s 21st position and Alan Racing’s Pablo Sanchez Lopez furthered his solid performance of this week so far, claiming fifth position.
Mauro Sipsz, Series Founder
“I am happy with how the two days of testing have gone, the timings are extremely close which is a good indication of the Formula S2000’s good performance. I am very much looking forward to Saturday and Sunday’s races.
I think it is important for everybody to remember that we literally started with a clean sheet nine months ago. The Formula S2000 is a completely new car and the way the Series has developed so far has been superb.”
Luca Persiani, Scuderia Fama
“I’m glad to be at the top again, it’s very nice! I’ll probably allow myself to relax a bit tonight but then tomorrow is back to preparing for this weekend. We need to work through all the data we have gained and look for more improvements. We might still be at the front but others are improving too so we need to make sure we stay ahead.”
Maximilian Goetz, ISR
“I was first this afternoon and am second overall which is really good considering we didn’t do as many laps this afternoon. We changed the set-up at lunch time and the car was much better after that. I think we used the time we had really well over the last two days, we maximised the data we collected and still have plenty to look at before this weekend.”
