Hankook celebrates Jim Clark success ..

with honours in international, national and Reivers events

Irish Tarmac Championship ace Colm Murphy, national hotshot Andy Fenwick and Scottish Championship front runner Mike Faulkner helped ensure a successful weekend for tyre giant Hankook on the Jim Clark Rally.

The event, based in Kelso on the Scottish Borders incorporated international and national elements and Hankook motorsports manager Mike Patterson said it had been one of the most successful events ever for the tyre company at this level.

Hankook was a key player on the Jim Clark in 2006 when the two SJR Hankook cars contested the rally as part of the British Rally Championship but this year the tyre giant had crews running in both international and national fields.

Subaru driver Colm Murphy extended his Group N lead in the Irish Tarmac Championship after finishing second in this category, just behind BRC leader Mark Higgins. A delighted Colm said he had enjoyed the closed roads rallying in the Scottish borders and the challenges of the weather which ranged from sunny dry conditions to torrential rain.

In the National Rally there was success for the Hankook-shod Subaru Impreza WRC of Andy Fenwick and Lee Tindall while on the Reivers Rally a strong run by Mike Faulkner and Peter Foy saw the pair extend their Group N lead and move into second place in the Scottish Championship.

“It has been a tremendous event for Hankook,’’ said Mike. “The weather proved a huge challenge to everyone and we are delighted with the way in which the Hankook tyres performed in wet and dry conditions.’’
