Brooklands Car Racing Anniversary

History is about to be made in the Chequered Flag room at Brooklands on the 28th and 29th of June this year, marking the hundredth anniversary of S.F. Edge’s incredible 24 hour record – the world’s first closed circuit record, driven without a single rest for the entire day and night.

The record was an incredible feat of human endurance as Edge himself had been told that if he ran for prolonged speeds for more than sixty miles an hour he would suffocate from lack of air. Edge trained intensively for the record event to make sure that his body could stand the strain for the full 24 hours.

Though much of the original circuit is now gone, a Carrera scale racing track will be put in place to hold a 24 hour race in honor of Edge’s record. Leading personalities from the world of Formula One and sports car racing will be competing in this epic race. Many of the world’s finest slot racers will also be competing in the race, with former national champions from Sweden, America, Italy, Spain and Britain.

The race will start at 6 pm on Thursday 28th June and finish at the same time the following day. Modeled on the Le Mans 24 Hours race, the winner will be the car that covers the greatest distance at the end of the race. Pit stops, driver changes, tyre changes, etc. will all be part of this nail biting event.
