Jordan out of luck in Clios at Croft

Andrew Jordan was out of luck in the fourth round of the 2007 Elf Renault Clio Cup at Croft over the weekend (2/3 June), when his John Guest Speedfit-backed Clio was forced out of the championship race at the first corner. On Saturday morning Andrew qualified his Team Eurotech Clio fourth fastest for his heat, behind former touring car racer Stefan Hodgetts, former Clio champion Ed Pead and Niki Lanik. In the heat, he moved ahead of Lanik in a bold move around the outside at the first corner to take third and then concentrated on holding the place to make sure of a good grid position for the championship race on Sunday.Unfortunately, it all went wrong at the first corner of the points' scoring race. In the scrabble to get through the notoriously difficult first corner, Andrew was squeezed up over the apex kerb. The kerb was so high that the impact broke a wishbone on the front of the Clio and Andrew coasted to a halt at the next corner. It was a frustrating end to his race. "I'd got a good start and that could have been a podium finish," said Andrew.Andrew and the team will be back in action at Oulton Park in Cheshire on 23/24 June for the next round of the championship.Andrew Jordan is supported by John Guest, Bill Gwynne Rally School and Pirtek.Andrew is an MSA British Race Elite Driver.
