JPR Takes Pole Position in Fun Cup

Following six years of successful racing, Uniroyal has announced that it is transferring ownership of the hugely popular Fun Cup to the series’ official UK distributor, JPR Motorsport.  The rain tyre specialists will continue to support the championship until the end of 2007, with ownership formally transferring to Paul Rose at JPR Motorsport on 1 January 2008.

Originating in Belgium, Uniroyal brought the Fun Cup, which uses unique race-bred VW/Audi powered Beetle replica cars, to the UK in 2001.  The aim was to provide a unique opportunity for British motorsport enthusiasts to enjoy competitive, cost effective and, above all, good fun racing with maximum track time.  JPR Motorsport began their involvement in 2001 with the sales and service of cars.  In 2006 they were appointed by the worldwide race owners, PRC Group of Belgium, to have total responsibility for the Fun Cup in the UK and Ireland. JPR has helped Uniroyal grow the series from a standing start to over 40 cars today.

Guy Frobisher from Uniroyal said:  “It’s been an amazing six years and we have been able to achieve more than we ever anticipated for the Fun Cup.  Paul Rose at JPR Motorsport has been a vital part of this success and we look forward to seeing him grow the series even further over the next few years.”

Paul Rose at JPR Motorsport added:  “We’ve loved every minute of our involvement with the Fun Cup and when the opportunity arose to take over from Uniroyal to run the series solus in the UK, we jumped at the chance.  We remain fully committed to the concept of the Cup and, with the backing of a professional team of mechanics and race organisers, we are confident that we can continue to make it one of the most popular and thriving race series for many years to come.”
