Groves ready to do battle again

Those that thought the sensational record breaking day at Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb near Worcester on June 3rd would be a once in a lifetime experience might need to think again.

The outright hill record fell five times in one day and eleven other records were eclipsed. But according to reigning hillclimb champion Martin Groves, nobody should think that's the end of it. He has analysed the cars on board telemetry and says

"We can see from our data that I was being a bit of a sissy on my last run. My speeds through the Crossing Bend last year were faster on the old surface than on my 22 second run. On that basis another couple of tenths is possible."

With this prospect of another all-out assault on the hill record dare any hillclimb supporters or motor sport enthusiasts miss August Shelsley?

Practise is on Friday 17th August, rounds 27 and 28 of the Nicholson McLaren Aviation MSA British Hillclimb Championship takes place on Saturday 18th August and Sunday 19th August is a celebration of 60 years of the British Hillclimb Championship.
