Earlier this week, the FIA announced that all homologated 3-point race harnesses have been banned with immediate effect. These are belts which merge into a single strap behind the driver’s seat. The ban affects six belts in total from three separate manufacturers. Willans® Harness, one of the manufacturers involved, has responded to this news by announcing a special discount on replacement belts to customers affected by the FIA’s decision. The belt in the Willans range that has now been withdrawn is the Club 4x3, carrying the FIA homologation reference B-128.T/98.All other FIA approved Willans Harnesses are unaffected by the FIA’s ban, as they are not 3-point. Having recently purchased Stockbridge Racing Ltd. – the company behind the Willans Harness brand - new owner Simon Perkins is realistic that some customers may be unfortunate enough to be affected by the governing body’s decision. “Some racers may have only recently purchased a 3-point harness and they may be upset with the FIA’s decision. To soften the blow of replacing it, we are offering a substantial discount against the purchase of a Willans replacement, regardless of their existing make of belt,” states Perkins.Customers interested in further details on how to claim the discount should contact the distributor from which they purchased their 3-point belt from originally.
