RENAULT SPORT UK PIONEERS INTERNET TELEVISION RACE ACTIONIn a first for UK motorsport, high quality television images from the 2007 ELF Renault Clio Cup will be featured on the official Renault Sport UK website, www.renaultsport.co.uk throughout the season. Fans, drivers, teams and sponsors are set to benefit from the groundbreaking initiative, with Renault Sport UK grasping the opportunity to maximise its technological facilities by reaching an even larger fanbase.The Renaultsport website currently receives more than 30,000 unique visitors each month and the added attraction of watching ‘as-live’ race action is sure to see traffic increase at the online home of the Clio Cup.ITV Sport produces the footage, which features full race commentary and graphics, as seen during the live coverage on satellite and freeview channel Setanta Sports. In addition, three cars are fitted with on-board cameras to give a driver’s eye view of the race.A broadband connection speed is recommended, while the latest Adobe Flash Player is also required. Users must register as a member of the Renaultsport community and visit www.renaultsport.co.uk to view the action.Action from Rockingham and Thruxton races is now available to view online, with the whole season set to unfold on the streaming website.Appeal to fansHosting the action online is guaranteed to appeal to fans of the Clio Cup, which is renowned as having hugely exciting action in support of the British Touring Car Championship and Donington Park leg of the World Series by Renault.With a record number of New Clio Cup race cars on the grid in 2007, there is no better time to introduce online television coverage. A total of 59 cars have been sold in the UK to date, with 43 entering the Championship – a record for the ELF Renault Clio Cup since its UK debut in 1991.This year a new qualifying format ahs been used, combining timed qualifying with two qualification races, to trim the field to the number of permitted starters for Sunday’s point-scoring race.
