Guernsey Sand Racers at Loton Park

Two Guernsey Sand Racers competed at Loton Park Hillclimb at Alberbury in Shropshire on Sunday 10th June.

These amazing devices belong to Scott Rayson and Peter Jory. Self built on the Island, the pair regularly compete on the sands of the Channel Islands. Both are powered by massive American V8 engines of 6.2 and 7.6 litres with Peter’s unit coming out of a speedboat!

Peter said “We regularly compete in hill climbs at home and thought we would like to try out a mainland venue and I have been to Wiscombe Park before” he continued “Its been a long and expensive journey but we have enjoyed every minute.”

Each nearly as long as a small truck, both cars have Jaguar rear suspensions and both drivers substitute their knobbly sand tyres with racing slicks before taking to the hills!

Both cars will be competing at Val des Terres Hillclimb in St Peter Port, Guernsey, on July 21st.
