Harvey and Sutton step up to Supercup
for SilverstonePorsche Carrera Cup GB front-runners Tim Harvey and James Sutton will step up to the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup to race at the British Grand Prix meeting at Silverstone (7/8 July).Harvey and Sutton will compete for Red Line Racing in the British round of the international series in an entry organised by Porsche Cars GB. They will join the Supercup grid to race in front of a crowd of 100,000 British fans on Sunday morning. For Harvey, it is a return to the Supercup as he first competed in the British Grand Prix round back in 1994 as a guest driver and finished second. Then, in 1999 he contested half a season of the Supercup, but did not race at Silverstone."I'm really looking forward to it," said Harvey. "This year there are no date clashes between Carrera Cup GB and the Supercup and so I wanted to do a couple of Supercup rounds. I'd like to get a strong result at Silverstone and try and open up some possibilities. Ideally, I'd like to do both championships in 2007."For Sutton, it will be his debut in the Porsche Supercup after ten races in Carrera Cup GB. "The competition will be a lot harder," said Sutton. "My plan is to learn enough in Carrera Cup GB to then move up to the Supercup in 2008 or 2009. That's our most logical step. I won't have to worry about championship points, so I can go into the weekend quite relaxed and just see how it works out.""This is a fantastic opportunity for two of our Carrera Cup GB drivers to get a taste of the Porsche Supercup," said Red Line Racing boss Simon Leonard. The cars of Harvey and Sutton will operate from RLR's regular Carrera Cup team, run in parallel to the Team IRWIN/SAS Supercup team, which is a joint venture between Red Line Racing and Team Parker Racing. After the Supercup race at Silverstone, Harvey and Sutton will be back in the Carrera Cup GB at Donington Park over the following weekend of 14/15 July.
