Greg "The Jet" Leonard Blasts to USA Sprints Victory at CCMP!Fort Myers Florida 6-25-07

Greg "The Jet" Leonard Blasts to Victory Lane for the second time this season driving the beautifully preparred # 85 of Clyde "The Glide" Poole from Gibsonton Florida. "Big" Greg Leonard Sr. had the Shaw Sprinter finely tuned  as "The Jet" drove flawessly around the 3/8 mile Punta Gorda Speedplant. However his Victory did not come easy as RC Roper "The Racin Cowboy" who started on the pole had other things in mind.

RC led for the first 5 circuits until Leonard drove by using the high side on lap 6. Greg then stretched his lead to 10 car lenths by lap 14 at which time Roper driving the Victory is Jesus # V8 began to close back in. The two drivers battled back and forth  when Roper assumed the top spot on lap 17. Leonard fought back hard to reclaim his position using the high line again with Roper hot on his heels.

Meanwhile Mike Tharp was toiling back in 3rd running his own race after some serious battling with Mike Schroeder from SW Ranches Florida in the early part of the race. Greg went on to score his 2nd USA Sprints Main event Win by 2 car lenths at the checkered to a cheering crowd. The top 5 were Leonard, Roper, Tharp, Schroeder, Styner.

The next races for the USA Sprints will be a special Friday and Saturday North-South Shootout "The Final Showdown"   double header race weekend! So stay tuned and look for the details soon!
