Jordan takes ninth in Clios

Andrew Jordan finished ninth in round five of the 2007 Elf Renault Clio Cup at Oulton Park over the weekend (23/24 June), but would probably have worked into the top six in his John Guest Speedfit-backed Clio if the race had not been spoilt by a long safety car period. On Saturday morning Andrew qualified his Team Eurotech Clio fifth fastest for his heat. "I'd got too much understeer for the heat," said Andrew after slipping to sixth behind Philip House at the start. With the race – already scheduled for just seven laps – interrupted by a safety car period, there was little time to challenge House and that left Andrew on the sixth row of the grid for Sunday's final. After some changes to the car, he went into the final determined to make up ground. "On Sunday the car was much better," he said. However, once again other drivers crashed out of the race and the safety car was out early on. By then, Andrew had worked his way into ninth place and was confident of making more progress. But with the timetable already running late, the Clios had just a nine-lap race and with nearly half of them run behind the safety car, there was precious little time for racing. "I was pulling up onto House and I think I could have made my way through the group ahead of me," he said. But the chequered flag brought the race to an unsatisfactory finish and meant that Andrew had completed only seven laps of racing all weekend.Andrew and the team will be back in action at Donington Park in Leicestershire on 14/15 July for the next round of the championship. It is a track that he knows well and so another podium is his clear target.Andrew Jordan is supported by John Guest, Bill Gwynne Rally School and Pirtek.Andrew is an MSA British Race Elite Driver.
