British Grand Prix Update

Rookie F1 driver LEWIS HAMILTON’s record breaking start to this year’s FORMULA 1™  World  Championship  has  resulted  in  the  2007  British  Grand  Prix  (6  –  8  July) becoming one of the most eagerly anticipated sporting events of the year.

Hamilton is guaranteed  to  start  the  British  Grand  Prix  as  leader  of  the  Formula  1  World Championship and could break another record if he wins the big race on Sunday 8 July. Never before has a British F1 driver won his home race in his debut season. Could Lewis re-write the history books…. again?  

Model and former Hollyoaks star, GEMMA ATKINSON, has been named the Female Face of the 2007 Formula 1™ Santander British Grand Prix, and will be attending her first ever F1 race at Silverstone on 8 July. Gemma Atkinson said: “I’m a huge F1 fan, so the opportunity to be part of the British Grand Prix is fantastic for me. I’ve never been  before  but  I’ve  heard  that  the  atmosphere  is  amazing. 

To  experience  the  sheer noise and power of the cars will be unbelievable. As this year’s Face of the British Grand Prix I’ll be heading to Silverstone on 8 July, so will be able to wish all the British drivers good luck in person.”  

LEWIS  HAMILTON’s  grandfather,  DAVIDSON  HAMILTON,  will  be  watching  his grandson  race  in  Formula  One  for  the  very  first  time  when  he  joins  Lewis  at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. Davidson will be travelling over 4,000 miles to Britain from the Caribbean island of Grenada to see Lewis line up on the start grid at Silverstone, gunning for glory in front of a passionate home crowd.  

CELEB SPOTTING AT THE 2007 BRITISH GRAND PRIX – the British Grand Prix is a playground  for  the  rich  and  famous  and  a  number  of  celebrities  will  be  heading  to Silverstone  on  race  day. 

Successful  model  and  former  Big  Brother  housemate, DANIELLE  LLOYD,  will  be  attending  as  will  GEMMA  ATKINSON  and  BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen Chef JAMES MARTIN.  

Former F1 team boss, EDDIE JORDAN, has confirmed he will be performing with his band ‘Eddie & The Robbers’ on stage at the Grand Prix Party – the post race celebration at Silverstone on Sunday 8 July.

In 2006, more than 20,000 fans stayed behind after the big race to be entertained by live music and F1 driver appearances. At this year’s Grand Prix Party, headline acts ‘Eddie & The Robbers’ and tribute band ‘Killer Queen’ will be joined on stage by a host of F1 drivers and personalities.   2007 BRITISH GRAND PRIX FACTS & STATS - Formula One driver’s will lose an average of 4kg in weight during the British Grand Prix.

If you combine the average weight lost by all the drivers during this year’s race it would equal the combined weight  of  both  Kate  Moss  and  Victoria  Beckham. 

In  addition,  the  g-force  of  3.5 experienced   by   Formula   One   drivers   around   Silverstone   is   the   same   as   that encountered by astronauts during take-off.  

LONDON TO SILVERSTONE IN UNDER AN HOUR - Just 65 miles from Birmingham and 80 miles from London, Silverstone is easy to find, and is ideally located on the A43 dual  carriageway  between  Junction  10  of  the  M40  and  Junction  15a  of  the  M1.
