Racing Eng GP2 Magny Cours Preview

The  fourth  GP2  series  race  weekend  will  take  Racing  Engineering  to  the circuit of Magny Cours, the F1 French Grand Prix venue where the sixth and seventh races of the season will take place.

The team, backed by Repsol and Telefónica , arrive at the French track with a reinforced  line-up  as  the  fast  and  experienced  Venezuelan  driver  Ernesto Viso will join the ever more competitive Javier Villa, making for a real top level pairing  that  should  allow  Racing  Engineering  to  aim  for  good  placings  from the start of the practice sessions held on Friday. The excellent lap times set by Villa at the recent GP2 test days at Paul Ricard allow  the  Racing  Engineering  staff  to  feel  optimistic  about  their  chances  at Magny  Cours.

The  simulations  carried  out  by  the  team  at  its  Sanlucar  de Barrameda base were successfully tested at the two days of practice at Paul Ricard,  achieving a setup for the cars that will be a perfect starting point for Villa  and  Viso  so  that  they  can  be  competitive  from  the  off  on  the  French track. Javier Villa will have at Magny Cours a fresh chance to show up his immense talent. After already getting on the GP2 podium this season at Montmeló , the young Spaniard keeps improving his form and the very competitive times set last  week  at  the tests, finishing with the third fastest overall time during the two days, put him among the fastest drivers of the championship.

Venezuelan  Ernesto  Viso,  who  will  drive  for  Racing  Engineering  at Magny  Cours,  doesn’t  lack  speed  either,  and  will  be  a  valuable  addition  for the Spanish team thanks to his knowledge of GP2 acquired after competing in the series for the last two seasons with some very good results.

Ernesto has already taken two wins as well as several podiums at the wheel of the Dallara GP2  and  is  a  really  spectacular  driver  and  already  has  F1  experience  after being Spyker’s third driver at the 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix.

With  Villa  and  Viso,  Racing  Engineering  has  a  team  with  a combination of youth and talent and a win is a real possibility. At a track like Magny Cours, with its mixture of fast corners such as Estoril and slow ones like Adelaide means that the suspension setup is crucial to take advantage of the high kerbs at its quick chicanes. Both Javier and Ernesto have got what it takes  to  shine  and  bring  maximum  satisfaction  to  Racing  Engineering  and their main sponsors Repsol and Telefónica.
