IFM - Lopez wins under safety car

SANCHEZ LOPEZ TAKES SECOND SERIES WIN UNDER SAFETY CAR

Alan Racing’s Pablo Sanchez Lopez won today’s round seven of International Formula Master (IFM), adding to his previous street race win at Pau, closely followed by Promotorsport’s Marcello Puglisi and Cram Competition’s Jerome D’Ambrosio.

The race ran out of time when a red flag incident interrupted round seven after five laps. Once the track was cleared, the field of Formula S2000s resumed their race under safety car conditions with less than a minute remaining.

Finishing eighth, Kasper Andersen will begin tomorrow’s race from pole position thanks to IFM’s reverse grid regulation.

Pablo Sanchez Lopez, Alan Racing“It’s a really good start to the weekend, I know it’s a difficult track but I like it a lot. I’m happy as I am the youngest driver and trying to win the Series.”

Marcello Puglisi, Promotorsport“The start was quite good, sometimes I got closer to Pablo and sometimes less but it’s difficult to pass here. The car was good, we have improved a lot since the last race and this podium is a great result. I’m very happy!”

Jerome D’Ambrosio, Cram Competition“The aim is to take as many points as possible so this is a good result. Otherwise there is no place to overtake so the whole race depends on the start and the first corner. From a classification point of view, I think my main competitor is Chris van der Drift and he didn’t finish the race which means that so far, it’s a good weekend!”
