The heady atmosphere, the sunshine, the drag strip and a collection of the coolest VWs the world has seen. California you ask? No this is Bug Jam! The summer of 87’ saw the launch and now we celebrate the 21st birthday of one of the biggest and best events of the Auto world!
From Fri 20th to Sun 22nd July, Santa Pod is hosting a whole weekend of all things VW and hosting one hell of a 21st birthday party.
VW owner? Why not try your hand at Run What Ya Brung – race down the famous quarter mile strip, Beetle or Camper Van, all models welcome. Tearing down the strip not your style – then show and shine is for you, the best chance to show off your VW at its best. Own a pre 98 VW? Then take part in the prestigious Nostalgia Display.
VW Enthusiast? The Volkswagen drag racing club take to the track with the fastest and maddest VW’s in Europe with the elimination rounds on Sunday guaranteeing wheelies and close racing! Worn out? Then visit the VW Autojumble for rare and vintage VW parts a bargain prices or wander round the huge VW trade village that will be on site.
Need for speed? Supporting classes include the Street Eliminator which sees the world’s fastest street legal cars battle it out with superchargers, V8s and treaded tyres, the 7 second door slammers of the Super Modified, the vintage Fords of Outlaw Anglia and the 2 wheel machines of 9.50 Bike. If that’s still not enough then the mind-blowing 250mph Fireforce 3 will be putting in a few demo runs as well as the spectacular Jet Beetle.
Need for noise? As the sun goes down the volume goes up. Bug Jam is known for showcasing up and coming bands and has seen the likes of the Prodigy experience their first outdoor gig at the venue. The line up this year promises something for everyone and with four music arenas on the Friday and Saturday nights be assured you won’t stop dancing till you drop!
Still not enough? There will be top comedy gigs, a funfair complete with dodgems, sideshows and stomach churning rides, plus the Monster Trucks will make their first appearance at Bug Jam with Santa Pod’s very own Podzilla, crushing everything in its path. Top skaters and BMX riders will also be performing on the Bug Jam skate ramp, which will be open to all over the weekend.
Bug Jam’s 21st birthday bash will really be one of the biggest events in the UK this year at one of the UK’s best venues – its not to be missed, a definite lifetime must-see and one the kids will love! Plus they go free!
The event is being held from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd July and tickets are on sale now. Tickets start at £15. Kids go free (up to 3 under 13s per paying adult).
