show they’ve got the Bottle(top)
Susie Ambrose, Managing Director of 70:30, the exclusive matchmaking service for millionaires the world over, is gearing up to get behind the wheel this summer in support of a ground-breaking sexual health education charity, Bottletop.
Susie and her colleague Rachel make up the only all-girl team in this year’s Grand Tour, the prestigious charity event for the UK’s wealthiest individuals, which begins on 22nd July. The Grand Tour is a ‘party on wheels’, with participants driving 1,000 miles from London to Monte Carlo in five days.
Susie’s entrepreneurial spirit, sheer joie-de-vivre and charm all add up to the fact that she is being tipped by her chosen charity, Bottletop, to raise the most money. It also helps that her matchmaking company 70:30 works with millionaires, politicians, sports people, celebrities, business achievers and corporation leaders. Susie’s strategy is simple: to lead by example and make a donation herself and then ask her seriously wealthy clients to follow her lead. She is ideally placed to raise money for the charity and, crucially, to heighten awareness of what Bottletop does.
Susie says: “I believe that fortunate people have a moral obligation to encourage, support and help young people who are less fortunate. I see them as an integral part of the world and its future. I was moved by Bottletop’s objectives in educating young people about issues like HIV/AIDS and enabling them to make the right choices in life.”
Bottletop funds small but dynamic sexual health education initiatives in the UK, Africa and Brazil. Their work enables young people to take control of their own lives and make the right choices. Unlike bigger, more well-known charities, Bottletop only works with ‘grass-root’ charities; charities no-one hears about but which have a major impact on the lives of young people.
What makes Bottletop different is a unique combination of music, fashion and passion. By using tie-ups with record labels (Mr Bongo), DJs (Fatboy Slim and Bonobo) and luxury brands (Mulberry and Malmaison) they offer events, CDs and beautiful designer gifts to raise money in a way usually only the big, well-known charities can make headway. Bill Clinton and Bob Geldof include themselves among Bottletop’s supporters.
Pitting themselves against 29 teams of men doesn’t daunt the team from 70:30. Susie and Rachel are delighted to be the only all women team and can’t wait to rev up Susie’s Mercedes SLK on the starting line on 22nd July.
Susie says: “Not only will we be at the head of the pack on clues we will be the most stylish and beautiful team rallying for the inspiring Bottletop.”
Jonathan Pattison, Managing Director of Bottletop, says: “We’re fortunate to have 9 teams in total rallying for Bottletop this year. If each one of them can raise a minimum of £5,000, then this will give us £45,000 to help young people in Africa, UK and Brazil. I have a sneaking suspicion that Susie and Rachel are going to smash this target themselves! We’d like everyone to join in, so if you want to sponsor our wonderful women, please do.”
