Ultimate look to step up the pace ..

AGAIN AT SPA

ULTIMATE MOTORSPORT HEAD INTO THIS WEEKEND'S ROUND OF THE BRITISH F3 INTERNATIONAL SERIES AT SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS IN CONFIDENT MOOD AFTER A SUCCESSFUL THREE-DAY TEST LAST WEEK.

The new team scored their best result when Irish driver Michael Devaney finished fourth in the last round at Brands Hatch and new developments to their Mygale-Mercedes cars at Pembrey could now finally push them onto the podium.

Team manager Jonny Ostrowski said: "After our successful race at Brands Hatch the team moved straight to Pembrey. Our test programme had Mick concentrating on the aero package and Esteban on suspension geometry.

"We lost Tuesday morning to the weather but were able to get a couple of dry runs in before lunch with Esteban. After that we had two and a half full days running interrupted occasionally by heavy showers"

"With a fair breeze and strong sunshine it never took the track long to dry out and both cars worked through their programs. We were able to evaluate the new parts and are confident that we have made a step forward as a result.

"We hope to have the upgrades on both cars for Spa, where we will once again be pushing for a podium finish. We are closing in on the front-running pace and look forward to seeing how we do on our trip to Spa."

Argentine driver Esteban Guerrieri is looking forward to his return to Spa, where he finished seventh in both the F3000 race in 2004 and the Formula 3 Euroseries round in 2005, while it will be a first trip to the Belgian circuit for Devaney.

Devaney said: "I have not raced at Spa, so I am really looking forward to getting there and trying it out! It is a real driver's circuit and I am a quick learner, so if it suits our car it should be a lot of fun!

"We want to keep the momentum going from our success at Brands and take the improvements we have found from the test at Pembrey to move forward and hopefully take the next step to fight for podiums."

Guerrieri said: "We made some good progress with the car at the test in Pembrey and I am looking forward to getting back on track to try the improvements out in competitive conditions.

"Spa is a great track and you have to be pretty committed if you are going to be fast around there. I am confident that we will be able to develop the car to suit the circuit and that could give us the chance to push for a podium."
