Jordan confident for next Clio round

Andrew Jordan will be back in the hunt for a podium finish in round seven of the 2007 Elf Renault Clio Cup at Snetterton (Norfolk) this weekend (28/29 July). After a couple of troubled weekends, a major chassis problem was identified during the most recent race weekend at Donington Park. The team found that the front subframe was bent, which was probably the legacy of a first-lap knock at Rockingham back in April. With that problem resolved, Andrew was immediately back on front-running pace at Donington and continued that form during an exclusive Clio test day at Snetterton last Thursday (19 July). The John Guest Speedfit-backed Clio was right on the pace throughout the test day, when all the Clio drivers were in action at the East Anglian track. In both wet and dry test sessions, Andrew was in the top three fastest overall from a field of over 30 cars. In the dry, he was second fastest, just two-hundredths of a second off the leading time. Meanwhile, despite only running six laps in the wet session as his rivals did at least twice as many laps, Andrew was third fastest, just four-hundredths of a second away from the fastest time."We were fastest for a lot of the day," said Andrew. "I'm absolutely happy with the car again now," he added. Although the level of competition in the Clio field is incredibly high, Andrew is aiming to challenge for a place on the podium. After further testing on Friday, the qualifying session is on Saturday morning followed by the heats in the afternoon. The all-important championship race is due to start at 1.10pm on Sunday and will be broadcast live on the Setanta Sports programme.
