CHEQUERED FLAG
Stage one of Vauxhall’s VXR Racing Driver of the Year campaign came to an end last night with thousands across the country entering to pursue this incredible opportunity.
Demand to become a professional racing driver has been exceptionally high with more than 8,122 entrants in total.
“We’ve been overwhelmed with the great response we have received for the campaign and we really couldn’t be happier with the entrant figures,” said Richard Hughes, Vauxhall’s Group Marketing Manager. “Vauxhall is pleased to be able to help a member of the public to realise their dream of becoming a racing driver. The motorsport industry is very competitive and it’s great for Vauxhall to offer someone to live their dreams.”
2,000 individuals will be selected from the online entrants to compete against each other in the competition’s second stage karting rounds in Edinburgh, Manchester, Teeside, Milton Keynes, Thruxton and London, from which 12 finalists will be selected for the Grand Final in November. This will be their one-off chance to prove themselves and show who has got what it takes to make it in the high adrenalin and demanding world of motorsport.
In four months time Vauxhall will unveil the winner, who will go on to realise their dream of becoming a professional racing driver in next year’s Dunlop Maxx Sports Cup worth £80,000.
