Jordan takes2 top 5 Clio finishes

Andrew Jordan was on great form as he finished fourth and fifth in rounds seven and eight of the 2007 Elf Renault Clio Cup at Snetterton over the weekend (28/29 July).Having resolved major the technical problems on his John Guest Speedfit-backed Clio that affected recent race weekends, Andrew was right on the leading pace and turned in two fine drives to finish fourth on Saturday and fifth on Sunday from a field of 37 Clios.Having been one of the quickest drivers during an exclusive test day at Snetterton a week earlier, things didn't go to plan in qualifying on Saturday when Andrew was four-tenths of a second away from pole. In the incredibly competitive Clio pack, that meant 12th place on the grid. A plan to work with another driver in search of a tow on the long main straight didn't work as intended and Andrew was left much further down the grid than he had hoped.Despite that handicap, Andrew was quickly charging up the order in the first race, even though a lengthy safety car period and an early red flag due to accidents meant that only around seven racing laps were run. Incredibly, in those seven laps Andrew battled through to fourth place, a quarter of a second away from a place on the podium. In the process, he set the fastest lap of the race to establish the new Clio lap record. The rules for qualifying in the championship meant that Andrew was back in 12th place on the grid for the start of the second race, which was red-flagged almost immediately with at least six cars eliminated in several incidents. After a delay, the race was re-started and Andrew again charged through the pack to claim fifth place. "I had to defend hard to hold off Jonathan Fildes and then I got past Ben Winrow, which was really good," said Andrew. "We've had a great weekend and gone really well," he said, underlining that he is now ready to challenge for podium finishes in the hugely competitive series.Next stop is Brands Hatch (18/19 August). When the season started at the Kent track back in April, Andrew claimed a podium finish and is now aiming to repeat that form.Andrew Jordan is supported by John Guest, Bill Gwynne Rally School and Pirtek.Andrew is an MSA British Race Elite Driver.
