Ultimate ready to join Masters field

ULTIMATE MOTORSPORT WILL PASS ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT MILESTONE IN THEIR DEBUT SEASON OF MOTORSPORT THIS WEEKEND WHEN THEY MAKE THEIR DEBUT IN THE PRESTIGIOUS FORMULA THREE MASTERS AT ZOLDER IN BELGIUM.

The famous race, which was won by McLaren Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton when he raced in F3 two years ago, makes its debut at Zolder after moving from Zandvoort and new British team Ultimate are looking forward to making their mark with their French-built Mygale chassis.

After beating their best ever result the last time they took on teams from the F3 Euroseries, when they secured a fifth place finish at the French Grand Prix support race at Magny-Cours, the team have made more improvements to the pace of their cars and are looking forward to a strong performance.

Team Principal Barry Walsh said: "We were delighted with our performance when we raced against the Euroseries teams at the Grand Prix support event in France – but this time we are confident that we can perform even better thanks to some recent improvements we have made to the car.

"We have been working hard with Mygale to increase the pace of the cars and the signs of that were there to see at our last British F3 International race at Spa. We continue to push and after failing to get the results we deserved there we are looking to really make an impact this weekend at Zolder.

"We know we are up against a tough field, but we are getting better with every race weekend and we are very excited about our first appearance in the F3 Masters, which is such a prestigious event. The weather can play a big factor.

Irishman Michael Devaney heads to Zolder with happy memories of a victory and a second place finish on his last outing in the Formula BMW ADAC championship in 2002. His team-mate Guerrieri has competed in the F3 Masters twice, at Zandvoort in 2005 and 2006, but he has not yet raced at Zolder.

Irishman Michael Devaney said: "The last time I raced at Zolder I won. The competition will be tougher than normal as the best of both the British and Euroseries teams come to the Masters. We had a good package at Spa but the farcical events there stopped us from proving that. I'm looking forward to having another crack this weekend."

Guerrieri added: "It will be interesting to see how the car goes around this track. We did not get the chance to really see how much time the new improvements gave us at the race last weekend in Spa, but we are confident that they will push us further towards the front. It will be tough, but we are ready for the challenge."
