Oschersleben Official Test for IFM

International Formula Master teams took part in the Series’ official test day at Oscherleben, Germany today with Euronova Racing’s Marco Bonanomi topping the timesheets.

The Italian set fastest times throughout the day, optimising his set-up expertise in the run-up to IFM’s next rounds on 25 and 26 August in Oschersleben.

With an average of 85 laps completed per driver plenty of track action took place throughout the day, most spectacularly from Macanese driver Rodolfo Avila who rolled his car during the morning outing. Avila walked away from the incident without a scratch but was sidelined for most of the day.

Juho Annala, driving for Jenzer Motorsport, completed the most runs throughout the day with a staggering 119 laps.

IFM saw two newcomers take part in today’s test; 2002 British F3 Champion and A1GP Team Great Britain driver Robbie Kerr joined Team JVA for the day with Italy’s Alessandro Bonetti driving for ADM Motorsport.

Former Alan Racing driver Salvatore Gatto took his first laps with his new team, Promotorsport, following today’s announcement that the Italian and first-ever IFM winner was to change teams.

Marco Bonanomi, Euronova Racing

“Today was quite good, we worked a lot on the set-up of the car, especially with fresh tyres. We tried many changes to the suspension and the springs for the car in general but also for the next race which is at Oscherleben. The track is pretty fast with lots of curves but it’s very similar to Anderstorp for the set-up so you can run well without too many changes.”

Luca Persiani, Scuderia Fama

“This morning we worked mainly with new tyres and set some pretty fast times. Then in the afternoon we concentrated more on setting the car up on used tyres. We’ve done some good work for the race and we were fast. Now I know that, I can go on holiday with a good feeling!”

Norbert Siedler, ADM Motorsport

“Setting up the car for the next race was the main thing today. I did more running in the morning, we had some problems in the afternoon but I’m definitely coming to Oschersleben for the next race now so it was good to get time there today.”
