Capitalising on the pole he was presented with after Fernando's penalty - Lewis extends his  championship lead. Kimi was very close in 2nd and set the fastest lap on the final lap.

Heidfeld calmly resisted Fernando's advances to take the final podium position - emphasising that BMW  are making solid progress.

Mclaren were not allowed to attend the podium ceremony as winning constructor - and raced under appeal  on the basis that the stewards imposed a penalty where the team would not gain any constructor points  from this race after the qualifying debacle.

So a load of lawyers will get richer this forthcoming week - but it's tightened up the championship  between Fernando, Kimi and Felipe behind Lewis - but surely you would have to make Lewis favourite for  the title now? - not bad for a rookie..
