Onslow-Cole warms up ahead of Brands

Team RAC driver Tom Onslow-Cole warmed up for the Dunlop MSA British   Touring Car Championship round at Brands Hatch on Sunday 19th August   with a visit to Carrow Road, the home of Norwich City FC, to meet   star striker Darren Huckerby.

Currently 10th in the driver standings, behind fellow Team RAC star Colin Turkington who sits in fifth place, Onslow-Cole got to give   Buckerby a close up view of the Team RAC BMW 320si.

Huckerby is renowed for his pace and Onslow-Cole has certainly proved his credentials by securing his first win for Team RAC at the last round of the BTCC at Snetterton and is hoping to continue his success  at Brands Hatch.

Tom Onslow-Cole said: “It was a great experience to meet Darren and  very interesting to hear about the preparation and skills involved in  professional football. I’ll definitely be following Darren and  Norwich City closely now for the new season!

“The last round at Snetterton was very special for me, and I’m now up  and running with BTCC victories. It was superb to reward the faith  that Team RAC have shown in me but that’s behind me now and it all  starts again at Brands Hatch.”

Darren Huckerby added: “It was a pleasure to meet up with Tom, and as  a big car fan I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Team RAC car up close.   I have a great deal of respect for Tom and the other drivers when you  see and hear the demands of their profession. We play on Saturday so  I’ll be keeping an eye on Tom’s performance the following day!”

Colin Turkington commented: “I had a good start to the season at  Brands Hatch when we started the season there in April. A pole  position was pleasing along with two second placed finishes, but now  it’s the time to go one better and ensure we get race wins like Tom  was able to do at Snetterton. We’ve made good progress all year and  are in a confident mood ahead of Brands.”

RAC will be continuing their ‘RAC to the rescue’ campaign at Brands  Hatch, which provides benefits to enhance the race day experience of  fans at every round of the championship.

Tying into RAC’s latest advertising campaign, which features Vinnie  Jones, the activity will see RAC coming to the rescue of drivers  attending the Kent circuit.  Visitors to Brands Hatch will be  selected at random and given an RAC orange voucher to entitle them to  a free windscreen wash and RAC road atlas.

Alastair Pegg, RAC Director of Marketing, said: “It was fantastic to  see Tom Onslow-Cole get his first win for Team RAC and even better  that it was RAC’s home circuit.  The support from the fans on that  day was fantastic and we’re hoping this support will continue at  Brands Hatch. With our next stage of our to the Rescue campaign

"RAC have many exciting initiatives planned for the remaining rounds  in 2007 so supporters should log onto teamrac.co.uk, look out in the  media and at the rounds themselves during the season for details of  our activity and how they can take part."
