F3/GT Stars Descend on Poole

Dolphin Shopping Centre (Poole, Dorset) visitors will have the rare chance to rub shoulders with some of the UK’s top racing drivers from the Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series and the Avon Tyres British GT Championship on Thursday 23 August. Marko Asmer, Sam Bird, Bradley Ellis and Phiroze Bilimoria will be dropping in to challenge shoppers on the Scalextric Roadshow, meet visitors and sign autographs, from 11am until 3pm.

Motorsport fans are also in for a real treat on 23 August when the Hitech Racing Formula 3 racecar and Brookspeed Team Trimite Dodge Viper Competition Coupe roar into the Centre. Wave 105.2FM’s Steve Power will host the event, try his hand at Scalextric and chat to the teams and drivers ahead of the next respective championship rounds at Thruxton circuit on 25&26 August.

Hitech Racing’s Marko Asmer currently leads the Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series by a massive 84 points following a dominant performance at Silverstone on 11&12 August.  The 23 year-old Estonian, who now resides in Buckingham, has taken nine wins this year including the double last time out and heads into the next rounds at Thruxton determined for a repeat performance which would clinch him and the team the coveted 2007 title.

Marko will be joined by British F3 rival Sam Bird, who races for Surrey-based Carlin Motorsport. In only his first F3 season, the 20-year-old has already scored two victories and lies third overall in the Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series.

British GT contender Phiroze Bilimoria will also be in attendance at the Dolphin Shopping Centre. The young Indian driver signed with Brookspeed Team Trimite for the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Silverstone where, with partner Nigel Greensall, the pair led part of the two-hour endurance race. Based in Southampton, Brookspeed will showcase its mighty Viper in its new Team Trimite livery, following the recent sponsorship deal with the UK’s leading industrial paint manufacturer.

Phiroze will be joined by the current leader of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, Bradley Ellis, who will be travelling from Croydon especially for the event. Aged just 20-years, Bradley leads the battle for the championship crown with teammate Alex Mortimer by just two points as the Team RPM duo head to Thruxton after two wins so far this season.
