Law and Donohue Take 2nd in Thrilling Infineon Grand-Am Rolex Series Event

After leading much of this weekend's Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve Armed Forces Grand-Am 250 at Infineon Raceway, Red Bull Brumos Porsche driver Darren Law of Phoenix, Arizona and his teammate David Donohue had to settle for a heartbreaking 2nd place after a thrilling last lap pass by the race winning #99 Gainsco/Bob Stallings Pontiac Riley of John Fogarty and Alex Gurney. The Armed Forces Grand-Am 250 is the penultimate race of the 2007 Grand American Rolex schedule, and was held as part of an Indy Car race weekend. Law and Donohue's 2nd place finish in the race moves them to 5th in the driver standings before the final event in Utah in two weeks.The Red Bull liveried #58 started the weekend slightly off the pace, ending their first practice session in tenth place some two seconds from the front of the field.  However, the Brumos crew began making changes to the Porsche Riley and the team was able to improve as the weekend went on.  By qualifying, the #58 had a good set up underneath it, and Law was able to place the car third on the grid with a lap of 1:28.605 of the 2.52-mile challenging and elevation filled natural terrain roadcourse .Law took the green amidst a 17-car Daytona Prototype-only field and immediately began to pressure the #75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley of Nic Jonsson.  Law shadowed the #75 for much of his stint, keeping the gap to less than a second until lap twenty six, when he was able to secure 2nd place from the Krohn team driver with a well timed pass.  Law then led the race briefly as the #99 pole position winning car pitted for fuel and tires and a driver change.  Law stayed on track until lap twenty-nine, when he pitted under green and handed the car over to Donohue.Donohue took to the circuit in 3rd place, some nine seconds behind the race leading #01 Lexus Riley of Scott Pruett, and began to progressively close the gap. By lap forty-nine had closed the gap to 4.9 seconds.  Donohue then moved to second place when the #99 had a brief off track excursion.  Donohue imemdiately closed the gap to the #01 of Pruett, and has the Telmex Lexus driver pitted , Donohue took over the lead of the race on lap 66 of the 99 lap event, and maintained that lead through the second round of pitstops as Donohue just made it out in front of Gurney after only taking two tires in an attempt to save time during the stop.  Donohue, who appeared to battling inconsistent handling as his stint wore on, kept the #99 at bay until the 98th lap, when Gurney was able to sneak by the #58 driver immediately following a full course yellow and restart.  Law and Donohue, who both had driven a hard, clean, fast and consistent race, were obviously happy to see their highest finish as teammates come to fruition, but they were clearly disappointed in having their first win together whisked away.   Law Quote"It's great to have finished on the podium again this year.  The car was great, especially for qualifying and the race.  I had a great run with the 75 car and finally got by him just before we had to pit.  I could make up a lot of time on him in the "esses" and under braking for 11.  David drove great, but the 99 car is just a little too strong for everyone right now.  It doesn't get much closer than that, and hopefully we can take that last step up the podium when we get to Utah."InfoLaw gets a brief break at home in Phoenix before heading to Detroit for the American Le Mans Series Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix next weekend.  Law will again be piloting the #44 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche GT3RSR, but will be teamed with Patrick Long instead of his usual teammate Seth Neiman. Law will finish off the American Le Mans 2007 schedule with the Lizards as he will travel to Georgia for the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta at the start of October and will finish at Laguna Seca in mid October. Darren's next event with the Brumos squad will be the Grand-Am season finale at Miller Motorsports Park the weekend of September 12-15. Darren is also intent on trying to get as many points toward the 2007 Porsche Cup competition as possible.  With finishes like his second place this weekend, Law will continue to stay in the hunt for the prestigious yearly competition that is open to all non-factory professional series based Porsche drivers worldwide.
