Pritchard Upfront in C2R2 Cup
Despite an electrical fault on the opening leg of round four of the C2R2 Cup 2007, the Ulster International Rally, Jason Pritchard maintains a healthy lead in the championship. The Builth Wells driver started the rally with gusto, generating a thirty seconds lead over the opening twenty miles. However, this was short lived when a broken lead caused the Quick Motorsport prepared FCS Lasermail/North Road Garage Citroën C2 to ground to a halt nearing the end of the fourth stage of the day.Pritchard and his Brecon co-driver Martin Jones decided to restart the rally on Saturday morning in a bid for Jason to learn more about the stages used on the rally during his first visit to the event."When the lead broke, it ended any chance of a good result. We decided just to continue for me to gain valuable mileage on the rally and to learn as much about the event as possible. We were setting reasonable times throughout the Saturday and were slowed on some of the stages by slower cars, but we achieved what we wanted and now have an eighteen point lead in the championship." Having contested five tarmac rallies in succession, including two test events, the nineteen year old in his first full championship season now turns his attention back to the loose surface gravel rallies that make up the remaining events in the championship. The 2007 MSA British Rally Academy member will contest at least one gravel event before resuming his championship campaign on the Trackrod Rally on Saturday 6th October."There are just two rallies left in the championship and we will probably do a gravel event and some testing in September in preparation for the Trackrod."Jason and Martin are supported in their 2007 campaign by FCS Lasermail and North Road Garage, Builth Wells.
